Who is Corinne Winters?
I’m an international opera soprano, writer, spiritual seeker, foodie, amateur yogi, and lover of all things art and philosophy.
What would you do differently to what you do now?
I would accept and savor each moment as it is. I spent my twenties and early thirties hustling and over-planning. I accomplished a lot, but my mind was too fixated on the future to enjoy the fruits of my hard work! I have a long way to go, but I’m much happier when I’m living in the ‘now’ rather than the imagined future.
Who inspires you and why?
Vulnerable people who have the courage to be themselves. It’s easy to jump on the bandwagon, but daring to be oneself, especially when it means standing alone, is real bravery. I also love deeply curious people. They have a childlike wonder that makes everyone around them feel more alive.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I eat a plant-based diet to lessen the burden on the environment, and to free up resources like water and grain to potentially feed people in need. In terms of my work, my life goal is to inspire others, whether it be through my performances, writing, or eventually mentoring. Inspired people uplift others, creating a domino effect that has the power to change the world.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Any relaxed beach holiday. My favorite way to recharge is lying on a beach chair with the sun beating down on me, smelling the salt air, iced coffee in one hand and my kindle in the other!
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Borough Market! It’s always bustling and smelling of something delicious. I also love London’s art museums – the permanent collections are so rich and diverse. The National Portrait Gallery cafe has a wonderful set menu for lunch – and one of the best views of the city!
What are you currently reading?
The Inspector Gamache detective series by Louise Penny, set in Quebec. I’m also reading Lee Bladon’s Awakening to Wholeness. I like to start the day with some philosophical or spiritual text and end the day in bed with a juicy novel.
What are you currently listening to?
My custom playlist on Spotify – mostly singer songwriters. My newest favorite is Gabrielle Aplin.
… when my words and actions align with my values. For example, I value kindness, generosity, creativity, passion, and forgiveness. If my words and actions reinforce those values, I’m content.
What does the future hold for you?
Family time, new projects in Europe, Asia, and the States, and a few much-needed holidays, but honestly, there’s lot still up in the air. I’m okay with that, though. It leaves room for spontaneity and surprises!
